WEDNESDAY

2 pm. CHECK-IN

The keys to your chosen holiday cottage will be waiting at the Himos reception at the address of Länsi-Himoksentie 4. ​

4 pm. Visit to Patapirtti – Uusi-Yijälä ecofarm (Optional)
Uusi-Yijälä’s estate is a vineyard and restaurant that is dedicated for seasonal food and Finnish ingredients. It is located on the other side of the Lake Patalahti from the reception. During the visit to the premises you will hear about the cultivation of the yard, feed the adorable sheep and hear about the interesting history of the estate that has stood here for generations. After a visit, it is possible to stay for dinner at Patapirtti.

THURSDAY

10 am. Family canoeing by the lake
On  this guided canoeing program you will see Himos from a totally different viewpoint, paddling on the Lake Patalahti. This program is for pure having fun on the water!
Possibility to test SUP-boards in the shallow waters at the end of the program.
Departure from Himos reception.

1 pm. Visit to Moose Manor zoo (Optional)
In the backwoods of Himos lies a peculiar small zoo park called the Moose Manor. This is the only place in Finland where you can share kissies with a moose, not just watch them from a distance. There are also reindeer and fallow deers and all of them are super friendly and accustomed posers for selfies. The charming rustic manor is more than 150 years old and keeps astonishing people with its simple but prestigious country style décor.

FRIDAY

5 pm. Husky on holiday walk
The summer is a holiday period for the Siberian huskies, but they are ready to stretch their legs in the afternoon hikes. Hiking with huskies takes place at McAhon Kennel, approx. 20 minutes from Himos. First we get to know the kennel and hear about the sled dogs’ year. We will choose couple of dogs for the hike and harness them together. After that we make our way by foot to the forest pulled by the dogs. Once we get back we will enjoy some refreshing juice at the kota, Lappish hut.

Duration 1 – 1.5 h.

Please note! It is recommended that the person handling the dog is at least 12 years old because unlike the home dogs these dogs are trained to pull on the leash.

SATURDAY

5 pm. Sauna Village, public smoke sauna (Optional)
Probably the biggest collection of smoke saunas in the world can be found from Sauna Village which is located in Juokslahti, Jämsä just about 6 km from Himos. In this beautiful spot at the bay of the Lake Päijänne, the historic saunas are being carefully restored by using the traditional tools and methods. The restoration is done by volunteer work of dedicated sauna lovers from Finland and all over the world. The best part is that the traditional smoke saunas that have been restored are being heated on Saturdays during the summer and you are welcome to join and keep the culture alive.
Mixed saunas. Please bring your own sauna gear (swimsuits, towels) possibility to cool down in the lake!
