The journey towards finding just the perfect holiday cottage may start by choosing the area with the landscape of your vacation. Himos is a resort with many cottage hubs just like little villages. The villages are scattered around a narrow Lake Patalahti which streches in front of the majestic ski-slopes to be connected to Lake Päijänne in the north by a small stream called Patajoki.

The areas in the Heart of Himos are more densely populated and are a first choice for many holiday makers due to the proximity of seasonal services. The ones that enjoy the country life will enjoy their holidays on the west side of Lake Patalahti. The coastline from Himosranta through Honkaranta to Nuppulanranta present a postcard like rustic scenery with glistening blue lake, summer time blooming hayfields and unwavering ever green conifer tree forests in the back ground.

A great thing about Himos cottages is that majority of the cottages are within walking distance from the lake. If you like hiking and wandering in the forest, you’ll be pleased to find out that you can embark on your excursion to the marked trails within 5 minutes from any doorstep by foot.

Once you have chosen your location you are ready to pick your castle. They are a great place to stay for those who like a little light in the fireplace, well working kitchen and a feisty sauna.

The things you will find in even the most minimalistic holiday house are an electric heating and hobs, coffee maker, shower, toilet, TV, blankets, pillows and of course – the sauna. ACCESSORIZE!

Once you have selected your cottage you can add services to the mix. All cottages are equipped with blankets and pillows. Sheets and towels are being booked separately. You can choose whether we just bring a pack of fresh sheets and towels to the cottage or if you’d like the beds to be ready made to be snuggled into. It’s also worth spending a thought for the check-out day before the holiday.

The cottage needs to be cleaned before the next guests check in. You can do it yourself following the instructions in the cottage or you can let us do that for you and purchase an end-cleaning service to be done after your check-out. We recommend it, it takes the stress out of the last day when you need to pack your and maybe your family’s things and make sure everyone’s got their charger cables and the electric appliances are switched off and the doors locked and the bus, train or ferry to catch to…  In some villas the linen and end-cleaning fee is added automatically on top of the accommodation rate.

So you’ve got the cottage ”in the bag”, confirmation and reservation number safe in your mobile device and 35 km before arriving to Himos and you start to think where did you need to go? Don’t worry. It all starts in the heart of the Himos resort – Himos Center. All guests accommodating in Himos who have booked their holiday from Himos Holiday check-in at the same desk at Länsi-Himoksentie 4, 42100 Jämsä.

This is the place where you can also rent snowmobiles, ice-way skates, rowing boats and eFatbikes. Before your travel, check-out the Arrival Info for the reception opening times and let us know if you are arriving outside the reception opening times so we can instruct you through the process.

And then it starts. Your holiday.
One last tiny little tip about the doors of the cottage. Quite many of the cottage owners have equipped their cottage with a very reliable Finnish lock type which simple to use but also quite unbreakable. The genious thing about the lock is that it always locks itself without having to turn the key again unless you adjust the slip in the lock. So once you start unloading your luggage indoors, make sure you either adjust the slip or keep the key in your pocket so you will not be locked outside.
