Have you ever been in a smoke sauna?
This package takes you to the Sauna Village at Jämsä which includes about 20 smoke saunas from 1700’s to 1940’s.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

On the guided tours of Sauna Village, you can get acquainted with the history of the Finnish sauna spanning a thousand years, or the cultural history of Finnish saunas, and you may have even a possibility to test couple of them. 

DAY 1

At 4 pm CHECK-IN​

The keys to your chosen holiday cottage will be waiting at the Himos reception at the address of Länsi-Himoksentie 4. ​

 During this holiday you will also experience a sauna yard with traditional smoke sauna, modern sauna and jacuzzi, barrel sauna, a scenic Kirami designer sauna and a hot tub.

SAUNA VILLAGE

DAY 2

At 5 pm GUIDED VISIT AT THE SAUNA VILLAGE

Probably the biggest collection of smoke saunas in the world can be found from Sauna Village, which is located in Juokslahti, Jämsä just about 6 km from Himos. In this beautiful spot at the bay of the Lake Päijänne, the historic saunas are being carefully restored by using the traditional tools and methods. The restoration is done by volunteer work of dedicated sauna lovers from Finland and all over the world. On this hosted tour you will learn about the history of Finnish Sauna and especially smoke sauna. You’ll also have a possibility to test one or some of these smoke saunas.​

SAUNA YARD

At 7 pm SAUNA YARD AT HIMOS

The evening continues at the Sauna Yard by the Lake Patalahti. You will have a possibility to bathe in 4 different kinds of saunas, a hot tub, and Jacuzzis. The Lake Patalahti also offers a possibility for year-round natural water swimming.

Mixed saunas. Please bring your own sauna gear (swimsuits, towels) possibility to cool down in the lake!

The must-see places nearby Himos are the Moose Manor with deer animals and a moose family as well as Patapirtti – Uusi-Yijälä Ecofarm.

MOOSE MANOR

DAY 3

At 1 pm VISIT TO MOOSE MANOR ZOO

In the backwoods of Himos lies a peculiar small zoo park called the Moose Manor. This is the only place in Finland where you can share kisses with a moose, not just watch them from a distance. There are also reindeer and fallow deer’s and all of them are super friendly and accustomed posers for selfies. The charming rustic manor is more than 150 years old and keeps astonishing people with its simple but prestigious country style décor.

UUSI-YIJÄLÄ

At 6 pm VISIT AND DINNER AT THE PATAPIRTTI- UUSI-YIJÄLÄ ECOFARM

Uusi-Yijälä’s estate is a vineyard and restaurant that is dedicated for seasonal food and Finnish ingredients. It is located on the other side of the Lake Patalahti from the reception. During the visit to the premises, you will hear about the cultivation of the yard, feed the adorable sheep, and hear about the interesting history of the estate that has stood here for generations. We recommend staying for dinner in Patapirtti, table reservations must be done in advance.

Heading home relaxed and inspired!

The rest of the day is free time, allowing you to maybe visit Jämsä with its several attractions.

Price includes: 3 nights’ accommodation in a cottage with own sauna, min. 1 bedroom + sleeping loft, well equipped kitchen, fireplace, shower, toilet, TV. Linen and towels, end-cleaning, guided visit at the Sauna Village and Moose Manor, Sauna yard and visit at the Ecofarm.
Price doesn’t include: outdoor clothes or shoes. Transfers are agreed according to the group size

If you are arriving by public transfers, we can arrange the transfers by extra charge.
